News about rapidly growing and expanding coronavirus have been all over media and social networks by the day. The WHO has now declared it as an emergency and warning from all medical and health organizations regarding symptoms and precautions from the rapidly spreading virus.
This new respiratory virus that caused severe pneumonia was first identified in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China. The virus is now spreading person-to-person in growing numbers in greater than 50 countries, but 94% of cases are in China.
Reports now show that this virus has now reached to various other countries. Many cases of the virus have also been reported in India. And most metro cities are on alert for the virus.

The virus can cause pneumonia. Those who have been diagnosed with this virus are reported to suffer coughs, fever and breathing difficulties. In severe cases, there can be organ failure. Being viral pneumonia, antibiotics are not effective on this. The antiviral drugs that are used against normal flu will not work.
The new coronavirus initially produces the same symptoms as the common cold, but these can develop into a fever, breathing difficulties and pneumonia. So far people are seen with weakened immune systems (the elderly and people with other underlying medical conditions) are becoming more seriously ill than young, healthy people.

If infected, stay at home and avoid crowds or contact with others: Avoid going to crowded areas, also being a festival time in India most of the people who stay away from will be traveling to their home towns. Wear masks while traveling and avoid eating open and contaminated food products.
Wash hands frequently: Wash your hand frequently. Before eating, after coming from outside. Also one must be very careful while going to the market place and other places that have crowds. one must maintain social distance to avoid any chances of infection.
Wear a mask: One must wear a mask every time he/she steps out of the house. By wearing a mask you can avoid getting in contact with any contagious or infectious particles in the air. Discard Single-use mask immediately after use. Don’t touch your mask while you are wearing. One must avoid touching eyes, nose, etc.
Practice Food security: Use separate chopping boards and knives for raw meat and cooked food. Wash your hands while switching from raw meat to cooked food. Avoid eating the meat of animals that may have died due to sickness.
Special attention to children, elderly: Children and elderly ones must be given special attention as they have a weaker immune system as compared to adults of mid-range age groups.
Consult a doctor: If you are suffering from cold, fever or are having trouble breathing, you must visit your doctor and seek medical help as soon as possible.
